My Review
I have loved reading so many stories from WW2 over the past few years. There were so many people affected by this war in places I'd never read about. Abounding Hope is the first book in the Circle of Hope Series. It's a story of people of faith and trusting in God to help them. Irena and Jonathon were high school friends. They both end up in Poland at the start of World War Two. As they both try to help children escape from the invading Germans, the two friends are torn apart as they travel through the war-torn country.
The title of the book is such a strong theme in the book. Abounding Hope is based on true stories from this time period and place. So many people had to cling to hope, because at times that's all they had was hope and prayer. Those who love Christian fiction will like the use of scripture verses. The characters use the scriptures to help guide them on their journey to safety.
The growing love story is sweet as Irena and Jonathan come to realize their true feelings for one another. As well as a romance, there is a lot of action and angst as they are attacked by the enemy and struggle to escape the Nazis. The ugly reality of war is shown too. This novel keeps readers immersed as they read chapter after chapter. The main characters are easy to like, even one of their friends who ended up in the German army. With great characters and an intense storyline, Abounding Hope will be enjoyed by readers of Christian Historical Romance.
