{My Review}
Slave Queen is the third book in the Omar Zagouri Thriller Series. So far I've loved this series and it's always had a lot of action and the back and forth between present day and the past is so masterfully done. The new book does the same thing again presenting the story of present day events and the story from the perspective of sultan Suleyman and his chief wife, Roxelane, who through their relationship changed the course of the Ottoman Empire.I felt in this book that Omar's story took a back seat to the story of Suleyman and Roxelane and I was very pleased about that fact. I couldn't get enough of this couple. I actually found myself racing through the present day action, (It was really good, believe me!) but I was captured by the romance of the Sultan and his wife.

If you've never read a book in this series, reading this one would be OK, but you will have a more rewarding experience if you start with book one, then two and then reading this third book. I hope that there are more books to come in this series. I also hope that the author keeps this same format of blending in the present and the past because why break something that is a winning formula?

{Excerpt}
Chapter One
Al Karak, Jordan
Rashed Sayid picked up his cell phone and selected his most trustworthy contact. The phone call would take only moments, but the result would teach the entire Sayid tribe what honor meant. He shut his third-floor office window, blocking out the rising heat of the Jordanian desert’s summer morning. He and his only brother owned the bank in the city of Al Karak, having started the bank three decades before, and now they were among the wealthiest in town.
“Yes?” Yamil answered.
“We have proof,” Rashed said into the phone.
“Four male witnesses?” Yamil asked.
Rashed blew out a breath. Yamil was a stickler for rules. An execution couldn’t be ordered unless there were four respected male witnesses to the crime. There were actually no witnesses, but Rashed knew his daughter was guilty. He had plenty of video footage of her leaving her university apartment more than once after midnight, and he also had other, less legal evidence. There was only one reason for his daughter’s midnight forays. Worst case scenario, Aamira was no longer a virgin. Next case scenario, she’d been tainted in some way by having a relationship with a man other than her fiancé. Rashed was still working on trying to find out whom she was meeting. But it was time to put the execution order into motion.

{Praise for Slave Queen}
“Moore does an excellent job of setting the scene of international intrigue, and although this novel is part of a series, it also works well as a stand-alone. The story jumps back and forth between the present and the past as Moore tells the story of Roxelane’s captured by the Turkish army and her subsequent love affair with Suleiman. Roxelane is an excellent, strong female character, and Moore brings some obscure players from the Ottoman Empire vividly to life. She even quotes from Suleiman’s actual poetry . . . to conjure a complex portrait of this larger-than-life figure. A satisfying historical thriller.” –Kirkus Reviews

“From sultans and hierarchies that separate men and women from Poland to Constantinople and beyond to new lives in great cities where mosques and sultans rule, those vivid past and present scenarios contribute to a story fueled by cultural revelations and the long-standing threat a series of letters reveals. The result is a fast-paced, complex, and absorbing adventure saga that crosses time and place to give Omar, Mia (and readers) a run for their money. Warning: once begun, it’s nearly impossible to put down the full-flavored, multi-faceted Slave Queen, which reveals many insights about the Ottoman Empire, Süleyman the Magnificent, and the slave girl foreigner who turned out to be his favorite wife.” –D. Book Description:
Moses has always felt like an outsider in his powerful Egyptian family, even though his close relationship with Ramses, the prince of Egypt, and their cousin Pentu keeps him entwined in the dealings of royalty. But when their youthful antics get them in trouble, the Pharaoh decides it’s time for all three of them to grow up and own their respective responsibilities. Now betrothed to a woman he cares nothing for, Moses wonders where his life is headed.

Miriam, a Hebrew slave, lives with a secret she cannot share with anyone. And though it has been eighteen years since she saved her baby brother, she is constantly getting in trouble for spying on him. In a desperate attempt to control Miriam, her older brother, Aaron, and her father look to find her a husband, something Miriam has never been interested in—until Caleb, a young, handsome man, confesses his feelings for her and asks her father for her hand in marriage.

When Libya advances on Egypt, Moses and Miriam are suddenly thrown together as the Egyptian royals and soldiers flee. Hebrew slaves are forced to defend the kingdom, and Miriam and Caleb are enlisted under Moses’s direction. Moses quickly sees there is more to this downtrodden people than what he’s been taught. When he witnesses the atrocities enacted against the slaves, he realizes he must leave—he must find out who he really is.
A gripping account of the events that lead to Moses’s flight into the wilderness, The Moses Chronicles: Bondage will take you back to a rich period of history replete with scandal, strife, love, and hope as God prepares a prophet to lead His chosen people.

My Review
If I ever get the opportunity to read and review a book by Heather Moore I take it. I know that I will be reading a fantastic story that is well developed, impeccably researched, and will also have an engaging story that will be impossible to set down.

This first book in the Moses Chronicles exactly fits my description above. If you think that it will be your typical story of Moses and the Ten Commandments, you would be wrong, and you probably have never read anything before that Heather has written. It always amazes me how Heather can take a story of a character that has been written previously, in this case a biblical character, and makes the story seem brand new. Bondage is the story of not only Moses, but his sister Miriam and his Egyptian mother Bithiah. I was thrilled to see this book written by the Point of View of Moses and two very incredibly strong women. Bondage has the perfect combination of action and romance. Each character from Moses, to Miriam, and even Ramses, are so well developed that you emotionally attach to them and become so vested in their stories.

Honestly, once I started reading Bondage I could not put it down. I came home from work and read while I exercised, ate my dinner, talked to my kids, talked on the phone...I'm talented that way!
 The only problem I can see with this book is that the second book is not right here for me to read! I believe it should be coming out in the fall. This book receives 5 stars from me which I don't give out all that often, but it so richly deserves it. Give this book a chance, and you will be the one who will be enriched by reading such a wonderfully written story.
