My Review
I always love to get my hands on a new cookbook. The Fiction Kitchen Trio Cookbook: Novel Recipes From Your Favorite Novels is extra special. I have loved reading the novels written by Sarah M. Eden, Sian Ann Bessey, and Traci Hunter Abramson. This new cookbook has recipes from their novels that various characters made and ate. Along with each recipe is a passage from the novel where it's from talking about each recipe/food. Here are some examples from the book.
-Apricot Glazed Salmon from Tripwire by Traci Hunter Abramson. {Tonight, they wouldn't have his favorite meal but rather the apricot-glazed salmon Jane's mother had assured him was her favorite.} I haven't gotten to try this recipe yet but it is easy to throw together and sounds amazing!
-Katy's Brownies from Cover of Darkness by Sian Ann Bessey. {Joe reached out, grabbed Katy's wrist, and took the knife. "Can I lick it?" he asked, just to torture her even more. Rob roared with laughter, and Katy, valiantly trying to keep a straight face, snatched the knife back and said, "No, and if you don't start behaving better, you're not having any brownies either!" }
-Katie's Irish Soda Bread by Sarah M. Eden. {She found leftover soda bread from the evening meal and sliced it thin and even. Mr. Archer had already set out a small bowl of eggs and strips of bacon. Some of the easy recipes that I and my family tried in the last few weeks were...
**Jocelyn's Scrambled Eggs that you cook in the microwave. These come in handy in the morning before work.
**Even Amy Can Make It Meatloaf. This was a huge hit at our house.
**CJ's Chicken Salad. This was perfect for lunches to eat on bread, rolls, or lettuce leaves.
**Welsh Cakes were loved by my kids.
**Cheddar Chowder was very yummy for the cold winter weather we've been having. This was good for dinner but also for left-over lunches.
We still have so many recipes that we want to try. My daughter is planning on trying the Blueberry Muffins. My son wants to make the donuts and Saint Squad Sliders. The recipes next on my list to try are the smoothie recipes, the Curry Chichen, and Charlotte's Flank Steak.
The best thing about most of these recipes is that they use items that are already in your pantry. They are easy to make and all family members will love them. The categories in the cookbook are Appetizers and Beverages, Breakfast and Breads, Soups, Salads and Sides, Main Dishes, and Desserts. Also, these recipes are tried and true recipes from all three authors.
I know this is one cookbook that we will be using over and over again at our house. You definitely will want to purchase this cookbook and I know you'll be using the recipes a lot like I have.
