Synopsis:

The Revenants are coming. Only recently woken from their centuries' long slumber, the dragons are unprepared to face them. But when a legend is uncovered, revealing the existence of a lost tribe of mages, hope flickers to life. The race is on as Tyler Durand and Anwen Kaida rush to find this missing tribe while the others prepare for their last stand. But time and numbers are against them, and Anwen fears that even if they find the lost mages, it will be too late.

First, let's take a look inside the book with this
Excerpt:

Anwen felt her heart palpitate painfully. It squeezed the breath from her lungs as fire coursed through her veins. She gasped out loud as pain similar to her soul scars flared with white-hot agony. But instead of centering on her limbs, the pain hit her side and chest. "No," she exclaimed as she doubled over, realizing what it meant. "Tyler!" she screamed. The crystal sword fell from her hand, leaving her unarmed.
An image came to her mind as she lay on the ground, her whole body trembling. She could see Tyler wreathing on the ground like an agitated snake. Dark steam issued from a gaping wound across his side and middle. The wound frothed like an angry tide.

I love stories about dragons so I knew that this series would be a fun read.

Book One Review:
The world building in the first book was very detailed but it built slowly so it didn't overwhelm you. The real action starts about half way through this first book. You also get a better feel for the characters as you learn more about them at this point in the book. There is real character growth from main character Anwen as she starts her journey of self-discovery and finding out why her parents wanted to her go to the Drakonii Mountains to find out more about her heritage. Anwen soon learns that there is so much more to who she truly is and her family. I felt kind of bad for her through much of this first book as she is always falling or drowning or getting hurt in some way. At first I wasn't sure she was tough enough to handle this quest she'd been sent on. With Tyler and Courtney's help it's amazing what happens in this first book.

Book Two Review
With all of the world building out of the way, book two takes off with a lot of action and never stops! This second book introduces many new characters, such as Anwen's mom and Tyler's friend Walter. They both are essential to helping Anwen and Tyler in helping the dragons. I also loved this book because we see so much more of the dragons and I loved the way the author describes them. I can't wait to read more about them in the next book coming out next year.

The plot is so well developed and after reading both books one right after the other, everything fit together so well like puzzle pieces. There is also a great surprise or two at the end that made for a great and exciting finish to this book. The character growth was huge for Anwen and Courtney in this book and it was very satisfying to see both of these young women grow emotionally and mentally in their respective powers.

It's not often that the second book is better than the first, but the constant action and more magical happenings put this book as my favorite so far in the series. You truly need to read book one first though or you'll be lost in book two. This book is recommended for fantasy lovers and those that love books about dragons.

Isn't it epic!
Now lets take a look inside the book

Snippet:

Courtney stopped abruptly as the scatterings of a cave-in came into view. “Oh no,” she whispered, one hand to her mouth. Moving slowly, she noticed a body slumped in the hallway. “Please don't be dead,” she said over and over again as she moved closer. She couldn't help but wonder which of her friends lay there, and what had happened to the other.

The closer she came, the more detail came to light. She recognized Tyler Durand as he lay on his side. His light-colored hair lay limp against his head. His skin was unnaturally pale. At least she didn’t think he was dead. It took a lot to kill a dragon. But just beyond him, a little more out of the way, lay Anwen Porter. And she wasn’t moving.

Q&A with the Author:
3.  What is the thing you struggle with the most while writing? And how do you defeat it?
I think the thing I struggle most with is finding the time, and sometimes motivation, to work on any project. With a lot of projects on my plate, it's sometimes super hard to not just throw my hands up in the air and call it done. When those times happen, I take a breather, work on another project for a while, then come back with fresh eyes. Seems to work every time.

4.   What kind of music do you listen to while you write?

The kind of music I listen to depends on what kind of story/scene I'm working on. I have specific playlists based on the general story, the type of scene, and what emotional response I want to draw from my characters as I'm writing. Those lists are constantly changing, so it's hard to pinpoint what will be on any list at any given time. But for Tarragon, I've been listening to a lot of Lindsey Sterling and Imagine Dragons, with some techno and remixes mixed in.

“When are you going to tell her?”
Tyler opened his eyes at Courtney's question. “Tell her what, exactly?”
Courtney didn't meet his eyes as she rummaged in her pack for something to munch on. “About what you are.” She pulled out a packet of granola and opened it.
Tyler's eyes went amber for a brief moment, but returned to their usual blue. “I don't know. One thing at a time, I guess. She's already been through a lot. I don't want to overwhelm her.”
“A bit late for that, don't you think,” Courtney understated with a roll of her eyes. “She's been attacked, knocked out, drowned, and who knows what else. I’m sure hearing you're a dragon will hardly make a dent in the bucket, if you know what I mean.”

Tyler smiled at that. “True. But what if I’m not ready to tell her?”
