My Review

Hidden Amish Target by Dana R. Lynn ( Amish Country Justice #16) was a very exciting story. Molly Schultz witnesses a murder and from there, she is on the run. As an Amish woman, life is different and things aren't handled the same as an "English" woman would. There is no car or cell phone to help you while on the run.

This book amazed me with how things got started with a bang within the first few pages. I wasn't expecting that. Poor Molly, with an injured leg, thankfully finds help from an old family friend Zeke Bender. Both Zeke and Molly have been through several traumatic things in their lives. As they come together to find a killer and keep Molly alive, they grow closer and a lot of healing takes place. 

Hidden Amish Target is filled with danger, excitement, suspense, faith-filled moments, and of course blossoming clean romance. This book is under the "Love Inspired Suspense" line and it lives up to its name. This quick-read novel keeps you guessing and leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole time. The story was gripping and I didn't want to put it down. You don't have to have read other books in the series, but I know I'll be going back to read the others.

 Excerpt from Chapter One...

“The suspect isn’t making demands, he’s not talking, and he’s already shot four people today.  He’s a convicted felon and isn’t going to come quietly.  Negotiation isn’t an option, so we’re going with the entry team.  Colby, if you get the shot, take it because he won’t hesitate to take our guys down and kill the hostages.” 

Adrenaline ran through Colby at his captain’s words.  No matter how long he’d been in the business, he never liked hearing that.  But if it could save an innocent life, he would do what he could.  He got ready and he didn’t have to wait long.  The man was holding out his arm, pointing the gun at the woman.  “Suspect is holding gun on hostage, he looks ready to shoot.” 

He heard the flash bang at the back of the house.  Colby knew it was coming and he drew in a deep breath, then expelled it in increments until his lungs were nearly empty.  With the wife still held in front of him, the only shot Colby could take would be a head shot and that was always risky, but he didn’t have a choice.  He could hear the yelling as the entry team came in and, as expected, the hostage-taker opened fire on them. “I have the shot,” he said with his last breath.  He held his empty lungs and everything stopped.  There was no sound, nothing to take away his focus, until he felt the trigger on the rifle release.

In the half a second it took to squeeze the trigger, the suspect moved his head forward and Colby knew instinctively that he hadn’t killed the man, only wounded him.  “Suspect is wounded but not down.” 

His words seemed drowned out by the gunshots from inside the house.  One resonated with Colby.  It’d come from a semi-automatic .40 caliber handgun¾he would bet his life on it. Another one followed soon after, but then all he could hear was the team yelling for him to put it down.  Closing his eyes for a millisecond, he steeled himself for what he would see when he opened them and looked through the scope. 

My Review
 This is the second book in the Hostage Negotiation Team series. I reviewed the first book, All Fall Down, and loved it! Here's what I said about that book, "All Fall Down is packed with fast-paced action, tense moments that will raise your blood pressure, and a little bit of sweet romance."

You always wonder, can the next book even compare with the first in the series? I'm happy to say Yes! Ashes Ashes does it's job and creates a fast paced thriller that is hard to put down. I took my kids to see a movie, but I brought along my ipad. Yes, I was sitting there, before the movie started, reading as much as I could before the lights went down.It was so tempting to pull out the ipad during the movie because I really,really wanted to see what was happening in the story. 

Colby Black is the hero in this story.He is a man I would like to take home.Colby cleans, bakes, is loyal, brave and kind. Sophia, who is on the run from the bad guys, is lucky to end up with him on her side. The attraction between the two characters is there from the start. But Julie knows how to perfectly blend the action, mystery and romance. Everything happens at a good pace and never feels forced. Once again there is a heart stopping finish. This happens every time I read one of Julie Bellon's books. The action and suspense is so intense I can't read fast enough to make sure things end like I want them to. I'm literally shaking when I think things have ended and everything is OK, then something/someone else pops up. Yipes!!

With a great plot, wonderful characters, (the good and the bad guys) explosive action,and just the right touch of romance, Ashes Ashes will leave you wanting to read more from this talented author.

My Review:

I always love it when I'm surprised by a novel. Most of the time readers think they know pretty much what will happen in a story. Don't do this when you read A Change of Plans. This book is SO much more than your typical romance. It has suspense, drama, and adventure. One more thing, it will make you cry at some point as you are reading.(I'm not divulging where those moments will take place in the story.) 

One of the highlights of Author Donna K. Weaver's writing is that she knows how to write characters that will stay with you long after you finish reading the book. I moped around all the next day after I finished this book because I missed the two main characters, Lyn and Braedon. The last time this happened is when I finished reading Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows for the first time. That is how involved you will become in their lives. Both of these wonderful characters have things that they are trying to overcome in their lives. They don't always get along, but in the end love finds a way. 

You can be assured that you will go through a variety of emotions before you read the last page. This novel should be your first choice when you are looking for  that perfect Summer read.

Meet Author Donna Weaver: I'm a Navy brat who joined the Army and has lived in Asia and Europe. Because I sailed the Pacific three times as a child, I love cruising and wish I could accrue enough vacation time to do more of it with my husband. We have six children. Our eight grandchildren live all over the world. At fifty, I decided to study karate and earned my black belt in Shorei Kempo.

My Blog Tour Review:
This is the third book of Jaclyn's that I have reviewed. This book also happens to be just as good as her previous books. The story of Kelly and Robby grabbed me from the start. At the beginning of the book, we meet Robby, whose life as an NFL football player isn't as wonderful as you would think, especially as he is constantly being stalked by female admirers. Then we read about Kelly, and discover the reason why Kelly has to go on the run in order to save her own life. 

Robby and Kelly happen upon each other on a lonely, country road. They immediately keep secrets, about themselves, from each other,and they soon grow close to one another. It was fun to see how their relationship developed. I loved how it showed a relationship developing slowly, from friends to eventual boyfriend/girlfriend. It was a nice change of pace for me. So many times in fiction the man and women are thrown together and fall in love instantly. You have to be patient in this book, but it is such a sweet thing to see how and why this relationship develops. Always in the background you know that Kelly is still in danger and that the bad guys are still looking for her. I only wish that there would have been a little more action in the middle of the story.


There are so many things that worked for me in this novel, such as the strong character development, and the humor and banter between the main characters. You have a man and a woman who are so "perfect" in their looks, but they both have emotional and personality flaws. It made both characters likable and approachable. They are members of the LDS church and share a little about their beliefs, but nothing what I would call preachy. It just made them more well-rounded and wholesome. I truly liked how this was shown throughout the course of the story.

The Most Important Catch will be a great beginning to your "Summer To-Read" list. It will make you laugh and believe in love again. Make this novel your most important catch to read this Summer.

My Review:

Samantha's main goal is to forge ahead in her career. She volunteers herself to join a group on an advertising job to Mexico. With her being fluent in Spanish, because of her serving a Spanish speaking mission, she was the perfect candidate. Little does she know what danger she is putting herself in, both physically and emotionally. Working for her boss, the beautiful and fashionable Katrina Edwards, she never feels quite up to her level. Then Samantha is attracted to freelance photographer, David Ayala, who is also the object of Ms. Edwards interest. What was supposed to be a simple business trip turns into something strange and scary. Odd things start happening that don't add up and everyone around her looks guilty. Samantha notices that a strange man starts following her. Then, accidents start happening to her, which don't seem so "accidental". 

To make things worst, back in the USA, Samantha's father is diagnosed with cancer. Not only is she worried about the alarming events taking place in Mexico, but she wonders if she should leave, to head home, and support her parents through this trial. As Samantha starts discovering things about her boss, and other members of her team, she doesn't know who to trust. The unfriendly co-workers,Lin and Mike, who are keeping secrets, and the over friendly co-worker, Seth, coming on to Samantha, lead her to start delving into what is really going on. Meanwhile, Samantha is falling in love with the allusive David, and she's not entirely sure she can even trust him.

K.C. weaves a mystery that is very difficult for the reader to unravel. With so many people suspect, you also have a hard time figuring out who the bad guys really are. It takes awhile to get into the intrigue, but you learn so much about the history of Mexico and its people. With the author's colorful writing, this country and it's beauties, and the gray areas, are brought to life. The majesty of the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, are detailed so dramatically, you feel as if you are there. The sadness of so much poverty is also shown. I loved the added history that was found in this book. Most people reading this book will be surprised by the ending. Who you first thought was involved with "The Serpent",the South American crime boss, will change with the unexpected happenings. 

Venom's exciting ending will not leave you disappointed. Just taking the ride, and seeing who falls in the end,(Literally!!), makes this a welcome read.

K.C. Grant was born in rural Idaho, but has made Utah her home for most of her life. After serving an LDS Spanish-speaking mission to Anaheim, California, USA, she returned and continued her studies at Weber State University, participating in a study abroad program that allowed her to study at the Centro Mexicano Internacional in Michoacan, Mexico.
