My Review

If you like novels with non-stop action, breathtaking, anxiety-filled moments, a budding romance, and powerful messages of faith, don't miss When the Silence Breaks by Elizabeth Goddard. This excellent novel is book one in her new Mercy Ridge series, and it is a truly thrilling read.

The story follows two incredibly tough, determined, and resilient main characters: Sarah Ellison, a former CIA operative, and Ryder Goodwin, a former Navy SEAL. I loved watching them learn to rely on each other. Though they start as strangers, a surprising twist reveals they are actually connected. Together, they go in search of a rumored Nazi plane that crashed in the nearby mountains during World War II.

The way this story unfolds is fantastic; as each piece of the puzzle was found, it was a true adventure putting it all together. There were so many times I was completely shocked by a plot twist and had to take a break just to process what I had read.

Elizabeth Goddard has a wonderful way of writing that completely pulls you into the story. Her descriptions of the rugged mountain search were so vivid that it felt like watching a movie. In fact, this novel would make a great film someday! Beyond the action, it weaves in clear, beautiful messages about having faith in God, letting the past go, and enduring until the end.
