My Review

Wow, Jerusha Agen does it again! I have loved every single book I've read by this author, and she truly knows how to write romantic suspense. Watched completely gripped me, and I honestly couldn't put it down. This book really knows how to keep readers fully engaged.

The story follows a psychiatrist named Robert who starts having these scary memory gaps and vision issues. He's terrified he's losing his mind, and on top of that, he's dealing with a massive lawsuit. Then there's Monty, the sharp attorney who comes in to defend him. They actually have a bit of a rough past, so watching them have to work together is so fun.

The danger gets real so fast. Someone is playing a seriously twisted game with Robert, and soon Monty is in the crosshairs, too. The author throws in so many clever red herrings that I kept pointing fingers at the wrong people, and the final reveal completely caught me off guard!

Even with all the crazy danger, the romance between Robert and Monty is so sweet and feels completely real. Plus, getting to see the awesome Montgomery family and the Weston siblings again added so much warmth and fun banter to the story.

What I love most about Jerusha's books is how she brings in faith. Monty's trust in God throughout all the chaos is such a beautiful reminder of His care, and it really sticks with you.

I haven't stopped thinking about this book since I finished it, and I'm already excited to see what this family gets into next.

My Review

I have always loved a good pirate story, but it is even better when there is a sweet romance involved. A Lady’s Guide to Love and Pirates by Jennifer Moore was an absolute delight from start to finish. The story is completely packed with high-seas adventure, plenty of angst, and a fun mystery that completely pulled me in.

I loved both of the main characters so much. Annabelle Bradford is the perfect blend of a high-society London lady and a fiercely independent woman looking for adventure. Most of the time she is a proper aristocrat, but for several months she is a capable sailor. When her pirate godfather, Captain Reid Courtney, is kidnapped by a rival captain searching for lost Spanish treasure, Belle shows incredible bravery. She wastes no time gathering the crew and setting out on a dangerous mission to save him. Belle is my idea of a well-written heroine. 

To pull off the rescue, she has to break the low-born renegade Captain Hawke out of prison because he is the only one who knows the location of the cursed island. When Belle and Hawke meet, they both realize they have completely met their match. They start out as reluctant, adversarial allies, but their chemistry is incredibly real. It makes for a wonderful, slow-burn romance where they truly build mutual respect while facing danger together. It is a sweet, closed-door romance that gives you all the feels just from some sizzling kisses.

The side characters are also incredibly memorable. Captain Courtney's loyal crew adds so much color, humor, and vibrant dialogue to the journey. If you want a fast-paced, entertaining escapade with great banter, lovable characters, and a massive dose of adventure, you definitely need to pick up this 5-star book.
