My Review
An Engagement of Errors takes us back to a family we first met in a previous book, An Engagement of Sorts. There, we read of sister Anne and how she eventually fell in love and married Thomas. In this book, we follow the stories of the other sisters, Elisabeth and Charlotte, and their nosy and very pushy mother.
At the heart of this story is the vulnerability of women during this era and having to rely on men for everything. With the death of Elisabeth's husband, she now needs to find a way to survive for herself and her newborn daughter. What ensues is genuinely a Comedy of Errors which I'm sure is how the name of this book was decided on. If you are not familiar with the saying "A Comedy of Errors" here is what it means, it describes a series of events that are funny because of all of the confusion and incompetence. There is plenty of that in An Engagement of Errors and this truly adds to the humor found among its pages. The romance is wonderful and I really liked how both sisters found their perfect matches in such strange and roundabout ways. Without giving anything away, just know that you as a reader will be flung into a flurry of up-and-down emotions, friendly banter, many tears, great laughs, and multiple sigh-worthy kisses.
****Meet Author Alene Wecker****
Life's too short to write (or read) in just one genre, right? But whether Alene's working on a high-brow historical with witty repartee or a kid's adventure series with magic and dragons, Alene's goal is to help her readers learn, laugh, and maybe even get a little choked up. If you manage to do one or all of those things while reading her books, she'd love to hear about it in your review.
When not writing, Alene's probably trying to homeschool her kids, sing, or . . . who am I kidding? She’s doing dishes or laundry. So. Much. Laundry. Hopefully, she’s listening to a great audiobook, too. Alene lives in southern California with her husband, six children, a beloved auntie, and a dog named Bubs.
