Why Not? Because I Said So Book Reviews: Sheila Staley's

Favorite 5 Genres to Read & Review

What is the simple definition of genre?

a category of artistic, musical, or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form, or content.
I love to read! There are some Genres I love to read more than others. Here are 5 Genres that are on the top of my list!

1.Fantasy
This book genre is characterized by elements of magic or the supernatural and is often inspired by mythology or folklore. Some of my Favorite Fantasy Books are...

The Lord of the Rings #3 :The Return of the King BY J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Mistborn Series By Brandon Sanderson

The Harry Potter Series By J.K. Rowling

The Fablehaven Series By Brandon Mull

The Mortal Instruments Series By Cassandra Clare

2. Clean Historical Romance

Historical romance is a genre consisting of books that take place in a historical setting with the developing romance of the main character being the focus. Some eras such as the Regency have many more titles available than others, but the genre is always expanding.
Some of my Favorite Clean Historical Romance Books/Series...
The Jonquil Brothers and The Lancaster Family Series By Sarah M. Eden

The Duke and The Lady Gardener By Alissa Baxter

Adoring Abigail By Chalon Linton

Edenbrooke By Julianne Donaldson

Summerhaven By Tiffany Odekirk

3. Children's Literature/Picture Books
A Bad Case of Stripes By David Shannon

The Little House on the Praire Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder (This was my favorite Christmas present I had ever received! I was nine years old and that's all I wanted for Christmas. There was only one set at my school library. i was always so upset when the book I wanted to read wasn't there. I only ever read the books in numerical order. Funny, I'm still the same!

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White: I read this to my class every year! I loved reading it as a child too!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Series by Laura Numeroff
As a teacher, I use these a lot in class to teach many concepts, especially cause and effect.

Any Eric Carle Book! These are great for school, or for home read alouds to your kids or grandkids.

4. Mystery/Suspense
The Client by John Grisham (I like many of his books!)

Sadie Hoffmiller Culinary Mystery Series by Josi S. Kilpack (I have all of them and have read them several times!)

The Natalie Marsh Series by Stephanie Black

Mary Higgins Clark Books

5.Middle-Grade Fiction
The Girl Who Drank the Moon By Kelly Barnhill

The Dragon Slippers Series by Jessica Day George

Far World Series By J.Scott Savage

Any of these fabulous books written by husband and wife team of Chad Morris and Shelly Brown

Stella By McCall Hoyle

The Paper Daughters of Chinatown (Adapted for Young Readers)
By Heather B. Moore and Allison Hong Merrill

This has been so hard picking a small selection of books that I've read and loved. There are many genres I love reading and many overlap but there are so many
good books out there.
As a teacher my big push is, read to your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
This is the greatest gift that you can give any child. Help them learn to LOVE reading!

Thanks JustRead Tours for letting me join in on your celebration!!
