Book Summary
A Romantic Suspense Novella

After a family tragedy nearly destroyed Mallory Ingram, she's fighting to get her life on track. When her sister and brother-in-law open their home to her, Mallory is certain that moving across the country will allow her to focus on a hopeful future. That future looks even more promising when her enrollment at a local university connects her with the charming Darien Thomas.

However, when illegal drugs turn up in her sister's house, the first person accused is Mallory, and suddenly, she doesn't know who to trust. Mounting evidence of Mallory's guilt is straining the tenuous bond she has just begun to develop with her sister after years of living separately. Desperate to prove her innocence and keep the harmful patterns of the past from hijacking her future, Mallory reaches for Darien's help to discover the truth.

But the truth may be more dangerous than any of them imagine.

My Review

This little 67 page novella blew me away! The tension built up so quickly I felt like I was reading a full length novel. I tried to read it in one sitting but I had to go to bed. The next day I hurried and got ready for work, got there, and then preceded to read the last two chapters of the book before the bell rang. 😁😁

I felt for poor Mallory who seemed she couldn't get a break, even from her own sister. Thank goodness she found a friend in the wonderful and kind Darien. He provided the level head and strength she needed. When Mallory was accused of hiding drugs in her sister's house it was hard to know who to believe. Author Stephanie Black always knows how to make every character seem so suspicious. There was enough back story given to help you start to process details. Once again, such an amazing thing to do in only 67 pages.

I really loved this novella and recommend it to those wanting a quick read full of thrills and chills, and of course the beginnings of a sweet romance.

Meet Author Stephanie Black

Stephanie Black has loved books since she was old enough to grab the pages and has enjoyed creating make-believe adventures since she and her sisters were inventing long Barbie games filled with intrigue and danger or running around pretending to be detectives. She is a four-time Whitney Award winner for Best Mystery/Suspense Novel. Stephanie lives in northern California, plays the violin in a community symphony but never practices enough, and likes to wander around taking pictures of birds. She enjoys spending time with her family, is a fan of homemade pizza, chocolate-chip cookies, and naps, and ranks as the cat's third-favorite person, though that ranking is shaky.
