My Review
Though this book is in board book form which you usually see used for toddlers, I'm here to say that it's a great book for kids ages 5-8. I teach 2nd grade and I read it to my class. They were utterly fascinated with the inventors presented in the story. My class loved it so much, that they wanted to learn even more in-depth about each inventor.
I also loved that there are male and female inventors spotlighted in this book. The illustrations done by Kyle Kershner are very bright and detailed. They totally engage kids as they read. I like the way that Heidi Poelman gives enough information about each inventor without being boring or going over a child's head. The information makes children curious enough to want to learn more like I discussed earlier in my review.
I liked this book so much, I want to purchase another book in the series called,
Little Heroes: Courageous People Who Changed the World
From the intrepid efforts of Susan B. Anthony to the quiet courage of Rosa Parks, Little Heroes: Courageous People Who Changed the World
is a young child's first introduction to the brave people who fought to
make the world a better place. Simple text and adorable illustrations
tell the contributions of eight champions of freedom: Abraham Lincoln,
Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Malala Yousafzai, Harriet Tubman, William
Wilberforce, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. A quote from
each individual is included on each spread along with colorful,
delightful artwork.
I recommend this book to all children for school and at home. These are great books that will start some wonderful discussions with your children.
