My Review

I finished this book late last night. Even though I was shocked at the ending, I was so happy that I already had book 2, Ruthless Vows, in my hands. 

Divine Rivals had so many things that I love in a novel such as Enemies to Lovers, magical elements and connections, two very special typewriters, Mystic Gods, and flying monsters. You could tell from the start that Iris and Roman had fiery energy and I loved the witty banter between them as they competed for a columnist position. 

Rebecca Ross is a beautiful writer who brings to life the rage of war, broken dreams, battles with grief, and the pain and heartbreak from loss. The world-building is amazing and you truly get lost in this dark world that has the feel of World War two. The romance builds up and up the further the story goes on. One of my favorite parts are the mysterious and clever letters written back and forth between Iris and Roman. They seemed like different people as they expressed so easily how they were feeling and held nothing back. 

Even with all of the romance, this story delivers on showing the harsh side of war and the effects on those left behind. I'm excited to see more of the magical elements in the next book. I am also anxiously awaiting the continuing love story of Iris and Roman. I loved Divine Rivals and yes, it's as good as everyone is saying.
