Book Summary
Louisa Cox is tired of fortune hunters pursuing her dowry. So when Lady Kellen offers to help her find an eligible suitor, Louisa eagerly accepts and makes a list of what she wants in a husband. The man selected is barrister Paul Sheldon. He may be a complete stranger, but he has one thing in his favor: he is unaware of her fortune. What Louisa did not anticipate was his curious behavior—or being so attracted to him.

When Paul catches wind of the matchmaking organization his mother and her friends are establishing, he pities the fellow who will be caught in their scheme—until he realizes he is to be their first victim. Horrified, Paul determines to thwart his mother’s plans by whatever means necessary. After meeting his intended, however, his increasing desire to be near her threatens to disrupt his convictions. Louisa is everything he could want in a wife, and when an unexpected adventure sets in motion the very plan he had determined to halt, he almost wishes his mother’s plot could succeed. But Paul harbors a secret and a past that makes it impossible for him to give Louisa the life she deserves.

My Review
What a darling premise for a new series. The Matchmaker Mamas are in town and ready to bring romance to their adult children. I must also mention, I have such cover love for this book. It is absolutely beautiful!

At first, this novel may seem light, funny, and fluffy. You know the premise of matchmaking is guaranteed to deliver on that. As the story goes on though, many things are brought up that contribute to our main characters not forming an attachment. I believe the author wrote wonderfully about past traumas Paul and Louisa suffered. It was a beautiful thing to watch Paul and Louisa trying to not grow closer and by doing so did just the opposite and helped each other in the healing process.

There are many great side characters that are friends of Paul and of course, their moms are in the mix of the Matchmakers. I'm excited to read their stories in upcoming books in the series.

The romance is very believable in Bargaining For The Barrister and I truly loved both Paul and Louisa. Readers will cheer both of them on as they start to fall in love. I know I did. Some of the best moments in the book had to do with an attic, bushes, and of course the lake. You'll understand completely when you read this novel. There is a perfect mix of romance, humor, and dealing with life troubles. This book is another winner from Anneka Walker that you need to read.
