My Review
Having already read a book by Angela Carlisle, I knew I had to pick up her new novel. Shadowed Witness is a fast-moving Christian Romantic Suspense, and the second book in The Secrets of Kincaid Series. I enjoyed Book One, Secondary Target, and I knew Angela Carlisle writes great suspense stories.
The main character, Allye Jessup, is a photographer who witnesses a murder. She’s attacked afterward and blacks out. The next day, she wakes up with very few memories of that night, and bruises cover her body. Luckily, she reports everything to the police. Detective Eric Thornton takes her case and also begins to look out for her. I loved the slow-burning romance that grows between them, especially since they were friends before.
Allye is also facing mysterious health issues she can’t explain, and some people think she's losing her mind. But she shows strength and determination through it all. The plot is filled with twists and surprises as the story moves forward. It keeps you guessing about who is behind the murder and when the threat will strike again. Along the way, they learn to trust God more deeply and lean on their faith. It's good to see character growth happening during hardships and how they overcome their problems.
Shadowed Witness is a wonderful inspirational romantic suspense. It features characters you can relate to and a mystery that keeps you hooked. The message of faith is clear and positive. Though you can read this book on its own, I recommend starting with Book One. I’m already excited to see what happens in the next book.
