My Review
The Black Witch has been on my To-Read list for a long time. This is one of my favorite genres too. I was very excited to get a chance to listen to the audiobook. I know that there was some controversy about this book and reviewers have either loved or hated this novel. I'm in the camp of loving this novel and its characters.
I was completely taken in as the story progressed. When I heard that this had been her first published novel I was very impressed with the great world-building Frost had done. I love the wide diversity of people depicted. There are many social issues of prejudice, hate, intolerance, and stereotypes of other cultures and races. There is also an interesting magic system among the various cultures. Elloren Gardner is the main character who starts very naive when entering university and has her eyes open to the truth about her people and their background. There are two men in the picture too. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. It ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger so I'm super happy there are more books ready to read.
