My Review
What an utter delight this novel was. There are so many beloved characters from Honora(Nora) and Graham, Graham's sweet sister Judith, Alecia, and Inayat, the Indian woman who helped raised Nora. Strong, vocal, and sometimes impetuous, Nora wasn't always easy to get along with, but I loved the way that the charming and witty Graham was able to give it right back. There were never two people more meant to be together than this couple. Their chemistry leaps off the pages and I loved watching them fall in love. Even with Nora's strong views about not being sold off into marriage, she always had ideas about how she'd change her situation.
This isn't just a love story. There are many side stories of racial/societal inequality, dyslexia in the early 1800s, and the whole story of how Graham's family estate had fallen into financial ruin. Speaking of that, I really liked how Nora's scholarly upbringing allowed her to be able to help Graham and his family. He needed to find his place as the heir someday running the estate as his father had never taught him. It was nice to see so many small storylines resolved by the end.
This Regency novel was so unique that it really stands out when compared to others. The cover is gorgeous and the characters and their appeal will captivate readers.
