Grace Without Grace: Stumbling Into Romance By Susan Tietjen-Official Book Tour & Giveaway
His arms neared her and paralyzed her like a mouse. Gently, they enveloped her and pulled her against him. Kind. Comforting. Strong.
The tears came again, painful and hot, and she wept into his chest, not with pain alone but also with relief. For those few moments, he held her up, letting her share his strength, giving her time to get her legs under her again.
When he finally let go, he stepped into the bathroom and grabbed a handful of tissues. She mobbed her face and blew her nose, certain she looked like a train wreck. Then she saw the mess she left on Rick’s shirt and winced. Even worse, she tried to dry it for him and succeeded in making the same mess she had of Mario’s napkins.
“It’s okay,” he said, chuckling, and pressing her hand against his chest to stop her. “I won’t melt.”
“Don’t be. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
He was so close, leaning over her. His gaze traveled over her face from her eyes to her nose to her mouth. They settled there long enough to send trails of heat up her face. When they sought her gaze again, they were filled with admiration.
He touched her cheek, removing a wisp of tissue as his excuse, but letting his fingertips linger. He lifted her chin, and for a long, breathless, terrifying moment, Grace thought he might kiss her.
