Love Remains (Hope Springs #3) by Sarah M. Eden -- Book Tour Review and Book Giveaway

{Product Details}

  • Title: Love Remains
  • Author: Sarah M. Eden
  • Paperback: 372 pages
  • Publisher: Mirror Press (September 5, 2017)
  • Genre: Historical Romance
  • ISBN-10: 1947152025
  • FTC, FYI: I received a review e-copy in exchange for an honest review

{Book Synopsis}
From Sarah M. Eden, the USA Today Bestselling author of the Longing for Home series, LOVE REMAINS is a new romance novel set in the beloved world of Hope Springs.

For nearly a year, Tavish O’Connor has carried the crushing weight of his family’s future on his shoulders. He has taken on the care of his youngest brother, Finbarr, who lost his eyesight in a terrible accident. But the lad needs more than Tavish can provide. Finbarr needs hope.

Cecily Attwater specializes in hope. As a tutor to the newly blind, she has dedicated her life to helping others overcome the obstacles she herself has conquered. Her new assignment in a remote corner of Wyoming proves trickier than usual: Finbarr refuses to learn. To make matters worse, his family—and the other Irish townspeople—are less than thrilled to discover an Englishwoman in their haven.

Cecily’s only hope lies in securing the cooperation of her pupil’s brother Tavish, who happens to be her harshest critic and quite possibly the most frustrating man she’s ever known.

For Finbarr’s sake, Tavish and Cecily forge an uneasy alliance that, as the weeks pass, tiptoes toward something deeper than either dares admit or face, and toward a future they know to be impossible. There can be no hope of a happy outcome for an Irishman and an English woman amongst a people reeling from violence and centuries of hatred between their two homelands.

{My Review}

What a beautiful story! This novel has so many wonderful characters that I've met before and it truly was like coming home. I also loved the new character of Cecily who not only showed amazing strength in her life but also how it's OK to be vulnerable and let others in. Tavish is my favorite character in this whole series. I was thrilled to know that this story was about him and how he hopefully would be getting his happy ending.

There are so many wonderful messages in Love Remains. There is the hope and courage that Cecily gives young Finbarr in his life, now almost blind after his accident. Cecily changes so many lives in the town of Hope Springs including her own. I also loved how grief was handled in the story. The main characters learned how finally allowing grief to happen also allows healing to begin. This story will bring you to tears as well as make you laugh out loud. Of course the witty dialogue that Sarah Eden is known for is a huge part of this book.

The love story of Tavish and Cecily is amazing. They start as almost enemies, and it's beautiful how their relationship unfolds slowly, in a delicate and funny way where you can't help but cheer on this couple. This story wouldn't be complete if dear Granny Claire hadn't been there. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom that both Tavish and Cecily needed. I've loved all of the books in this series but Love Remains is now my favorite. I read this enchanting book in a few hours as it weaved it's magic over me. Love Remains could be a stand alone book but I highly recommend you reading the series of books in the order they were written. This is another 5 star book for author Sarah Eden.

{Book Synopsis}
Psychologist Natalie Marsh's dream is now reality: her mental health services clinic has opened and is housed in an elegant, newly renovated nineteenth-century building. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy with the clinic's presence, including Heather Osbourne, a troubled young woman who wholly objects to the occupation of the building. Heather has spent years wandering the halls of the abandoned structure, convinced she's communing with her ancestor's ghost. When Natalie thwarts Heather's attempt to leap from a window, the shaken psychologist soon realizes Heather's failed jump is merely one piece of a disturbing puzzle. Greed and deceit are weaving a web around Natalie, and someone will stop at nothing—not even murder—to get what they want. Stretched to her breaking point, Natalie struggles to learn the truth, but only one thing is clear: nothing is as it seems.

{My Review}
I read this book in one day; actually just a few hours. Yes, it's one of those novels that once you pick it up, just plan on not being able to put it down. The title 'Mind Games' is so appropriate because this novel truly messes with your mind. The things that were happening to main character Natalie Marsh truly was mind boggling. There were so many people that were sneaky and suspicious I had a hard time figuring out who really was the ultimate bad guy. I'm happy to say I finally did figure it out before the big reveal at the end of the book.

This novel deals with mental illness and the author does a great job of showing people and treatment plans realistically and with compassion.The writing was very well done but this author always hits it out of the park when it comes to mystery, suspense, and edge of your seat tension in her novels. I really liked 'Mind Games' and the fun I had trying to weave through the maze of clues and red herrings left for the reader. It seemed like all of the characters had motive for murder and mayhem. This novel is one that you must add to your collection.

{In her words...}
"After many years of learning technique, writing, rewriting, more rewriting, submitting, and then—when I thought I was finished—major rewriting, my first novel, a futuristic thriller called The Believer, was published by Covenant Communications in January 2005. I switched to writing contemporary suspense, and Fool Me Twice was released in 2008, followed by Methods of Madness(2009), Cold as Ice (2010), Rearview Mirror (2011), and Shadowed(2012). In 2013, a long-awaited dream came true for me with the publication of The Witnesses, the sequel to my first book, The Believer. In 2014, Traci Hunter Abramson, Gregg Luke, and I each contributed a novella to the suspense compilation Twisted Fate. Played for a Fool, a sequel to Fool Me Twice, followed in 2015, Not a Word (the first book in the Natalie Marsh seriesin 2016, and Mind Games (Natalie Marsh #2) in 2017.

Four of my mysteries are Whitney Award winners for Best Mystery/Suspense, and The Witnesses was a Whitney Award Finalist for Best Speculative Novel."

Miss Leslie's Secret By Jennifer Moore-Blog Tour Review and Giveaway for $25 Amazon Gift Card and a Free Copy of ’Miss Leslie’s Secret

{Product Details}

Title: Miss Leslie's Secret
Author: Jennifer Moore
  • Paperback: 240 pages
  • Publisher: Covenant Communications, Inc. (September 1, 2017)
  • Genre: Regency Romance
  • ISBN-10: 1524404152

{Book Synopsis:}
 Decorated war hero Conall Stewart has spent ten years envisioning his return to his beloved Scottish Highlands. But now, with the days of battle finally behind him, it seems that his dreams of home have been in vain: the land of his youth lies in ruins, and his family is gone. Though he will never stop searching for his kin, Conall knows he must begin again. But when he takes on a rented farm in a nearby town, he finds far more than the fresh start he was looking for.

After catching a mischievous local lad stealing, Conall returns young Jamie to his mother, Aileen Leslie—and finds the woman’s coddling of the child maddening. What Conall does not realize is that Aileen hides a frightening secret: her devoted protection of Jamie is all that shelters them from discovery by a dangerous man from their past. Drawn together by circumstance, Conall soon develops a fatherly relationship with Jamie—as well as romantic feelings for Aileen. But even as the couple accepts their growing affection for one another, time runs out for Aileen and her son: after years of hiding, they have been found. Conall lost his family once—he will do all in his power not to let history repeat itself.

{My Review}
This book seemed to have a very slow start. I had a hard time immersing myself into the story. Once Conall took Aileen to the bonfire with him, as a reader I got to know and like both characters so much. Aileen seemed so real with her feelings of inadequacies and Conall trying hard to make her feel at ease getting to know him. It was nice to have a romance that felt real and not the old thing of eyes meeting and instantly falling in love.

This book is rich with the beauty and culture of the Scottish Highlands and transporting you there while truly making me want to visit some day. I just loved how many of the Scottish traditions were flawlessly slipped into the storyline enriching the story. Moore truly knows how to endear this country and people to her readers.

Of course one of my favorite characters was Jamie, Aileen's eight year old son. He is one of the main reasons that Conall and Aileen come together as a couple. As the story continues you are waiting anxiously for when Aileen's secret will come out, hence the title of the book. Let's just say I love the way how in the end Conall stands by Aileen and Jamie. It takes a lot of other things standing in their way to get to that point but in the end it comes to a satisfying conclusion.

Blog Tour for Perfectly You By Robin Daniels-Spotlight and $25 Giveaway

{Perfectly You by Robin Daniels}
 Ivy Nixon is the student body Vice President at Franklin High School. Each year, the school holds a date auction to raise funds for the senior class graduation party, and this year, Ivy’s in charge. Planning the event is a huge task and Ivy is determined to prove she can get the job done right. Unfortunately, she’s still one participant short and her deadline is looming. Andy Walker, her cute but socially reclusive art class table mate, is her last resort. He may not be popular, but he’s funny, talented, and full of surprises. With a makeover and some major social marketing, Ivy is sure he could fetch a decent price at the auction. Andy reluctantly agrees to help, but the more time Ivy spends with him, the more her feelings shift from professional to romantic in nature. To top it off, she’s done her marketing so well, that other girls are starting to notice Andy too. Come auction time, will Ivy be able to let him go to the highest bidder? Or will she find a way to keep him for herself… Content Description: This is a stand-alone YA contemporary romance with companion novels set at the same high school. It contains minor language, innuendo, and crude humor, some steamy kissing, a party scene where underage drinking is taking place, and a brief but tasteful conversation about sex. The author has attempted to write characters who make good choices in questionable situations, in effort to keep the content appropriate for teens. This book contains no sex, written or implied, and no explicit language.
Recommended for ages 14 and up.

{EXCERPT}
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you." I lunged forward in an exaggerated show of gratitude and threw my arms around his waist, embracing him tightly. He flinched and tensed up for a moment. I'd caught him off guard. Eventually he relaxed and put one arm around me, awkwardly patting my back in some semblance of a hug. For a moment, I forgot what I was doing and leaned into him. Wow, he smelled unbelievably good. Like soap and dryer sheets and something a little sharper that I couldn't identify. I needed to ask him what cologne he wore, because it was incredible. I could smell him all day. Not to mention that his chest was a lot firmer than one would guess, since he hides it under baggy button-down shirts all the time. Andy cleared his throat and I pulled away. He looked embarrassed again. He really needed to get over that, and I was going to help him, starting right now. "Sorry." I grinned. "You smell amazing. Your cologne is yummy enough to eat. I could sit here and sniff you for the rest of the class." He choked on his spit and quickly put his fist over his mouth to stifle his laughter. "Please don't." He was trying to sound horrified, but his face gave him away. He appreciated the compliment. "Ok." I threw my hands up in surrender. "But fair warning...if I'm having a bad day, I may lean over and smell your neck to induce a calming effect. When that happens, don't punch me." Andy shook his head, bewildered by the turn our conversation had taken. "I'll try not to punch you, if you decide to randomly press your face against my neck." "When you say it like that, I sound like a psycho stalker." "Psycho and stalker are your words, not mine. But, if the shoe fits..." He trailed off, and I smacked him on the arm. "Ouch!" Andy rubbed the place I'd just hit. "I'm only kidding. I don't think you're a psycho stalker. I've never seen any indication that you're a stalker. You're more likely a plain old psycho." He was grinning nice and big now, and I couldn't help but grin back. "Space?”
