2010: Books I Am Looking Forward to Reading

One of my favorite parts of the new year, is looking forward to new book releases. I want to share with you some of the books that have created some excitement for me.
Keys to the Demon Prison (Fablehaven, #5) "Since ancient times, the great demon prison Zzyzx has protected the world from the most dangerous servants of darkness, including Gorgrog, the Demon King. After centuries of plotting, the Sphinx is on the verge of recovering the five artifacts necessary to open the legendary prison.

Facing the potential of a world-ending calamity, all friends of light must unite in a final effort to thwart the Sphinx’s designs and find a safe home for the five artifacts. To this end, Kendra, Seth, and the Knights of the Dawn will venture far beyond the walls of Fablehaven to strange and exotic magical preserves across the globe, where the end of every quest becomes the beginning of another. In this explosive series finale, allegiances will be confirmed and secrets revealed as the forces of light and darkness collide in a desperate struggle to control the keys to the demon prison."

I have been a fan of the Fablehaven series from the beginning. Each book has been better than the preceding book. Brandon Mull has just as many adult fans as younger fans.

The publishing director of the Fablehaven books, Chris Schoebinger, had this to say about Book 5.

"I’m the publisher and here’s a teaser about book 5. Don’t worry, I won’t be giving anything away. Well, maybe a little something. Chapter 5 in book 5 is the most intense, the most gripping chapter of all the Fablehaven books. Jaw-dropping. I was not prepared for what Brandon Mull pulled out of his sleeve. I doubt anyone will see this coming."

I read this statement and had a hard time not jumping up and down. "Keys to the Demon Prison" is due to be released on March, 23, 2010.

Author Josi Kilpack

Another series that I love is written by author, Josi Kilpack. "Devils Food Cake" book three in the Sadie Hoffmiller Culinary Mystery Series, will be released by Deseret Book on March 3, 2010. Josi has struck gold with this series. She knows how to write a mystery. Another reason for her success is her main character, Sadie Hoffmiller. Sadie is real, in the sense she is just like the rest of the normal women out there. The only way that makes her different than the rest of us, she manages to get into BIG trouble quite often. She can't let a good mystery be solved without putting her two cents in. Sadie also loves to cook. I have enjoyed the recipes that have been in the previous two books in this series. I can't wait to try the new recipes that will be found in "Devil's Food Cake".

The last book I want to share with you, was written by brand new author Karen Hoover, "The Sapphire Flute", Book One in the Wolfchild Saga, will be out on March 16,2010.

I am thrilled that I was invited to be part of the virtual book tour. The even better part, is that I received my Advanced Readers Copy in the Mail today, courtesy of Valor Publishing. I will have to interrupt my Whitney reading to read "The Sapphire Flute"

This YA Fantasy

sounds very

exciting!

Here is what it says

on the back of the

cover:

"It has been 3,000 years since a white mage has been seen upon Rasann. In the midst of a volcanic eruption miles outside of her village, Ember discovers she can see magic and change the appearance of things at will. Against her mother's wishes, she leaves for the mage trials only to be kidnapped before arriving. In trying to escape, she discovers she has inherited her father's secret--a secret that places her in direct conflict with her father's greatest enemy.

At the same time, Kayla is given guardianship of the sapphire flute and told not to play it. The evil mage C'Tan has been searching for it for decades and the sound alone is enough to call her. For the flute to be truly safe, Kayla must find its birthplace in the mountains high above Javak. The girls' paths are set on a collision course...a course that C'Tan is determined to prevent at all costs."

The cover of the book is also very beautiful. I can see why Karen was so thrilled when she first saw it. The Wolfchild saga will consist of seven books. I love to read series, so this makes me very happy. I first heard of Karen at The LDS Storymakers Conference. She won a huge honor at the conference. Karen won the Grand Prize in the First chapter contest. I think that Karen Hoover is a name that you will hear a lot from in the future. I will soon be blogging about "The Sapphire Flute" and let you know how great it is.

There will be more posts soon, about many more books that I can't wait to read.
